Suede Pencase
- Unit price
- /per
- Capacity
- 10 to 12 pens
Velvety suede, a zip, and room for the pens you actually own. The Suede Pencase is made from real suede and holds 10 to 12 pens behind a zipped top, which makes it the one for a full set of pens, drawing supplies or office kit rather than three favorites. Brown, green or black.
Suede Pencil Case Features
Real suede, not fabric
The case is real suede leather, which is the flesh side of the hide brushed up
into a nap. It feels like velvet in the hand and it does not have the plastic-lined rustle of a
fabric pencil case. It is a different material from our smooth-leather pieces, not a cheaper
version of them.
Zipped, so nothing escapes
The top closes with a zip. Everything inside stays inside, including the small
things that get lost first: a spare nib, an eraser, a USB stick. This is what a band-closed case
cannot do.
10 to 12 pens
Capacity is 10 to 12 pens, so a set of fineliners, a few highlighters and your
daily pen travel together. It stays slim while it does that, because suede gives where a stiff
case would not.
Three colors
Brown, green and black. Brown is the warm classic, green is the one nobody else at the table has,
black disappears into a bag.
Suede Pencase Material and Care
The nap catches the light differently depending on which way you brush it, which is what makes suede look alive next to smooth leather. That texture is also the thing to protect: suede takes water marks and shine from rubbing more readily than a finished surface does.

What Fits in the Suede Pencase?
- Pens: 10 to 12
- Drawing supplies: fineliners, a few markers, a pencil and an eraser
- Small desk items: a USB stick, spare nibs, clips
- A name on the outside: not on this one
An honest limit: there is no name embossing on the suede case and no pen included; both of those belong to the smooth-leather Pencase, which holds 3 pens instead. Suede is also the more demanding surface: it marks with water and it shines where it rubs against a bag seam over the years. That is the cost of the texture, and it is the reason to keep it inside a bag rather than clipped to the outside of one.
How to Pair the Suede Pencase
- With a notebook: the Leather Notebook or the A5 Leather Journal are the writing half of the pair.
- If you want a name on it: the smooth Leather Pencase takes free embossing and comes with a pen, though it holds 3 rather than 12.
- On the desk: next to a Leather Mouse Pad or a Semender A5 Organiser, the suede is the texture that breaks up all the smooth leather.
Suede Care
- Do not use leather balm or oil on suede. It flattens the nap and darkens it permanently
- Brush it with a dry, soft brush to lift the nap back up
- Keep it out of water. If it does get wet, let it dry at room temperature and then brush it
- Ink is the one thing suede does not recover from. Cap your pens
Frequently Asked Questions
How many pens does it hold?
Ten to twelve, depending on how thick they are. That covers a set of fineliners plus your daily pen, or a school and office kit in one case. If you only carry a few, the smooth Leather Pencase holds 3 and is slimmer.
Is it real suede?
Yes, real suede leather rather than a fabric or a synthetic. Suede is the brushed inner surface of the hide, which is where the velvety nap comes from. It is a genuine leather product, just a different finish from our smooth pieces.
Can I have my name on it?
Not on this one. Embossing needs a smooth, firm surface, and suede has a raised nap that will not hold a clean impression. The smooth Leather Pencase takes free name embossing if that is what you want.
How do I clean suede?
Brush it with a dry, soft brush and nothing else. No leather balm, no oil, no water and no soap; balm mats the nap down and darkens it for good. If it gets wet, let it dry at room temperature and brush it back up afterwards.
What is the difference between this and the Leather Pencase?
This one is suede, zipped, holds 10 to 12 pens and comes in three colors. The Leather Pencase is smooth leather, closes with a band, holds 3 pens, includes a pen and takes free name embossing. Capacity and personalization are the two things that decide it.
A pencase that holds everything you own and still feels like something rather than a plastic bag with a zip.
How can I track my order?
When your order ships, we email you a shipping confirmation with your tracking number and a tracking link. You also get an email at every stage until it reaches you. You can check the status any time on our Track My Order page, or under your account if you signed in when you ordered.
These emails go automatically to the email address entered with the order, and we can't stop them for a single order. If you are sending a gift and want to keep the surprise, enter your own email address and phone number at checkout.
When will my order ship, and when will it arrive?
Each piece is prepared after you order: your order is prepared and shipped within 6 business days, then it is usually delivered within 3-5 business days. The dates for your order are shown on the product page before you buy. Weekends and public holidays are not counted.
Orders ship with UPS, FedEx or DHL. We email your tracking number on the day your order ships. A parcel doesn't always leave the carrier's facility right away, so the tracking may take a little while to show movement; please check again later.
How much is shipping?
The shipping cost for your order is shown at checkout before you pay, and most orders ship free. There are no extra shipping charges after you pay.
Do you accept returns and cancellations?
Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to request a return of a piece without personalization; it must come back unused, in its original condition and packaging. Pieces stamped with a name are made for one person, so as stated in our Refund Policy they can't be canceled, returned or exchanged. To start a return or a cancellation, write to us at contact@semender.info or through our contact page.
How do I personalize my order?
On the product page, type the name you want in the "Add the name you want stamped (optional)" box below the color options. Name stamping is free. The limit is 5 to 18 characters depending on the piece, spaces included, and the counter in the box shows each piece's limit.
All letters A to Z, the numbers 0-9, ❤ and the marks ( ) . - & @ / can be stamped; other marks and emoji can't. Logos are stamped only on corporate bulk orders. Names are stamped in capital letters, 6 mm (about 1/4 in) tall. Personalized pieces can't be canceled, returned or exchanged.
For the full details, see our Personalization Guide.
Is your leather real?
Yes. Our leather pieces are made from full-grain calfskin, semi-vegetable tanned. On our waxed canvas models, leather is used together with waxed canvas. The leather darkens and gains character as you use it.
What the labels on leather actually mean is explained in Full-Grain, Top-Grain and Genuine Leather.
My order is a gift. What should I do?
Write your message in the order note on the cart page and we add it to your order. To make the gift extra special, add a wooden gift box from the product page, choose one of our ready-made gift sets, or put several pieces together on Build Your Own Gift Set.
How do I care for leather, and how often?
Leather is a natural material: every piece can carry different tones and marks, it darkens as you use it, and it can scratch in everyday use. These scratches, and marks left by water, can be treated with our Leather Balm.
To use the balm, first wipe the piece with a damp cloth and let it dry completely. Take a small amount on your finger or a soft cloth, work it into the leather in small circles, and wipe off the excess. If it's your first time, try it on a small hidden area; the balm can darken the leather slightly at first, which is normal.
Once a month is enough for a piece you carry every day, and every two to three months for pieces you use less. For stains, see What to Try on a Leather Stain.
