Leather is a living material: left unfed, it dries and cracks. Semender Leather Balm is a 80 ml natural balm made from three ingredients and nothing else. It sits in the tin at the consistency of beeswax, and it is what keeps a wallet, a bag, a watch strap or a notebook cover from going dry and dull in its third year.
Natural Leather Balm Features
Three ingredients
The balm is olive oil, organic beeswax and lavender oil. That is the entire
formula: no silicone, no petroleum distillate, no artificial fragrance. The olive oil feeds the
fibers, the beeswax keeps moisture out, and the lavender is where the light natural scent comes
from.
It feeds, and it slows the cracking
Leather dries out, goes matte and eventually cracks along the lines where it bends. Balm slows that
down by putting oil back into the fibers, which keeps them flexible. The visible part is the
surface coming back to life; the part that matters is happening under it.
A little goes a long way
You need very little at a time. Take a small amount on a fingertip or a soft cloth and work it in
with circles. The 80 ml tin lasts through years of ordinary use, because this is a
few-times-a-year job and not a weekly one.
What Is Inside and How to Use It
Open the tin and the balm is a pale yellow paste with the body of beeswax. The scent is lavender, light and natural. It is a conditioner rather than a polish: it does not lay a shine on top of the leather, it puts oil back into it and lets the surface do the rest.

How to Apply Leather Balm
- Wipe the piece with a damp cloth and let it dry completely
- Test on a small hidden area first and look at the result
- Take a small amount of balm on a fingertip or a cloth
- Work it into the leather in circles, then wipe off anything that has not been absorbed
- Let it dry. The leather is fully dry within about 24 hours
An honest limit: this is a leather product, not a skin cream, and it is a conditioner rather than a cleaner or a dye. It will not lift a stain, remove ink, or bring color back to a scuff that has gone through the surface. On natural-finish leather the first application usually deepens the color slightly, which is why the hidden-area test is worth the minute it takes. Use it sparingly: too much balm sits on the surface and leaves a mark rather than feeding anything.
How to Pair the Leather Balm
- With the brush: on a bag-sized surface, fingers leave an uneven film. The Semender Leather Cleaning Brush spreads the balm evenly and takes the dust off first.
- What it maintains: wallets like Aziz and Classico, any bag in the range, and leather watch pieces such as the padded watch strap.
- As a gift addition: added to a leather gift, it answers the question the person is going to have in six months about how to look after it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which leather items can I use it on?
Leather wallets, bags, belts, watch straps and notebook covers. It feeds and protects finished leather, and used a few times a year it noticeably extends how long a piece looks and feels new. It is made for smooth leather rather than suede.
What is in it?
Three natural ingredients and nothing else: olive oil, organic beeswax and lavender oil. There are no chemical additives, no silicone and no synthetic fragrance. It comes in a 80 ml tin at the consistency of beeswax.
How do I apply it?
Clean the leather with a damp cloth and let it dry. Take a small amount on a fingertip or a soft cloth and work it in with circular motions, then wipe off any excess. If it is your first time with a piece, test a small hidden area and look at the result before doing the whole thing.
Will it darken my leather?
Slightly, usually, on natural-finish leather, and the effect settles as it dries. That is normal for any oil-based balm and it is why we suggest a hidden-area test first. On leather that has already darkened with age the change is much less noticeable.
How often should I use it?
A few times a year is enough for most pieces, more often for something carried every day or exposed to weather. This is periodic maintenance, not a weekly ritual, which is also why one 80 ml tin lasts so long.
Can I use it on suede?
No. Balm mats down the nap of suede and marks it. Suede needs a dry brush and a crepe block instead. Keep this for smooth leather, which is what the majority of our pieces are made from.
Leather rewards very little attention, as long as it is the right kind.
How can I track my order?
When your order ships, we email you a shipping confirmation with your tracking number and a tracking link. You also get an email at every stage until it reaches you. You can check the status any time on our Track My Order page, or under your account if you signed in when you ordered.
These emails go automatically to the email address entered with the order, and we can't stop them for a single order. If you are sending a gift and want to keep the surprise, enter your own email address and phone number at checkout.
When will my order ship, and when will it arrive?
Each piece is prepared after you order: your order is prepared and shipped within 6 business days, then it is usually delivered within 3-5 business days. The dates for your order are shown on the product page before you buy. Weekends and public holidays are not counted.
Orders ship with UPS, FedEx or DHL. We email your tracking number on the day your order ships. A parcel doesn't always leave the carrier's facility right away, so the tracking may take a little while to show movement; please check again later.
How much is shipping?
The shipping cost for your order is shown at checkout before you pay, and most orders ship free. There are no extra shipping charges after you pay.
Do you accept returns and cancellations?
Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to request a return of a piece without personalization; it must come back unused, in its original condition and packaging. Pieces stamped with a name are made for one person, so as stated in our Refund Policy they can't be canceled, returned or exchanged. To start a return or a cancellation, write to us at contact@semender.info or through our contact page.
How do I personalize my order?
On the product page, type the name you want in the "Add the name you want stamped (optional)" box below the color options. Name stamping is free. The limit is 5 to 18 characters depending on the piece, spaces included, and the counter in the box shows each piece's limit.
All letters A to Z, the numbers 0-9, ❤ and the marks ( ) . - & @ / can be stamped; other marks and emoji can't. Logos are stamped only on corporate bulk orders. Names are stamped in capital letters, 6 mm (about 1/4 in) tall. Personalized pieces can't be canceled, returned or exchanged.
For the full details, see our Personalization Guide.
Is your leather real?
Yes. Our leather pieces are made from full-grain calfskin, semi-vegetable tanned. On our waxed canvas models, leather is used together with waxed canvas. The leather darkens and gains character as you use it.
What the labels on leather actually mean is explained in Full-Grain, Top-Grain and Genuine Leather.
My order is a gift. What should I do?
Write your message in the order note on the cart page and we add it to your order. To make the gift extra special, add a wooden gift box from the product page, choose one of our ready-made gift sets, or put several pieces together on Build Your Own Gift Set.
How do I care for leather, and how often?
Leather is a natural material: every piece can carry different tones and marks, it darkens as you use it, and it can scratch in everyday use. These scratches, and marks left by water, can be treated with our Leather Balm.
To use the balm, first wipe the piece with a damp cloth and let it dry completely. Take a small amount on your finger or a soft cloth, work it into the leather in small circles, and wipe off the excess. If it's your first time, try it on a small hidden area; the balm can darken the leather slightly at first, which is normal.
Once a month is enough for a piece you carry every day, and every two to three months for pieces you use less. For stains, see What to Try on a Leather Stain.
