The entire lining is suede. It is the surface your MacBook slides against every
time you take it out, and it is the reason an aluminum lid stays clean. The full-grain leather on
the outside does the other half of the job: it takes the knocks a laptop gets inside a bag.
A magnet you cannot see
The closure is a magnet set inside the leather itself, not a snap fastened
through it. Nothing metal touches the MacBook, nothing shows on the outside, and the flap stays
down on its own so the laptop cannot slide out inside a bag.
2 card slots and a full-length back pocket
Behind the front flap there are 2 card slots for an ID or an office badge. On
the back of the case there is a full-length pocket that takes papers and a
notebook, which is what turns it from a sleeve into the only thing you carry into a meeting.
A curved cut to get the laptop out
The front panel is cut in a curve at the opening. That notch is where your
fingers go: you pinch the MacBook and lift it straight out, instead of tipping the case upside

16 inch size. Because the surface is never sanded down, each case carries the
grain of the hide it was cut from, and on a panel this large the difference between two hides is
the most visible it gets anywhere in the range. There is an embossed salamander on the flap and
contrast stitching along the edge.
Full-grain leather: the topmost, densest-fibered layer of the hide, its
surface never sanded or thinned. Over the years it darkens rather than wears out, and the small
scratches of daily use largely disappear when you rub them with a finger.

An honest limit: this case is made for 14 and 16 inch machines. A 13 inch
MacBook will sit loose in it, and the piece built around that size is the
Macbook Organiser. It is also
not a bag: there is no strap and no handle, so it travels in your hand or inside
something else, and there is no room for the charger. Leather adds weight that
neoprene does not, which is the trade for a case that will outlast the machine inside it and
probably the one after that.
