The mechanism is the traditional flint wheel and wick that runs on lighter fluid.
There is no gas cartridge to run out and nothing electronic to fail. You refill it with fluid and
it keeps working, which is the entire reason this design has survived a century.
Hand-stitched leather sleeve
The metal body is wrapped in full-grain leather, stitched by hand. The sleeve
comes off, there is no snap holding it, and the leather softens to the shape of your palm with
use. It is also what stops a metal lighter feeling cold in a pocket in January.
Palm sized
The body is the classic 2.2" x 1.5" (5.7 x 3.8 cm) format: it disappears in a
pocket and sits properly in a closed hand. That size is standard for a reason, and the leather
sleeve adds almost nothing to it.
Name embossing
Up to 5 characters can be embossed into the leather. Short, so initials or a
first name rather than a sentence.
Lighter Dimensions and Material
The sleeve is brown, black or green full-grain leather, hand-stitched down one side, and the
body is solid metal. The leather darkens with the oils from your hand faster than most pieces,
because a lighter lives in a palm rather than in a bag.
Full-grain leather: the topmost, densest-fibered layer of the hide, its
surface never sanded or thinned. Over the years it darkens rather than wears out, and the small
scratches of daily use largely disappear when you rub them with a finger.

single unit: flint and wick are not replaceable, so this is a refill-the-fluid

Lighter Care
