Suede Pencase

Velvety suede, a zip, and room for the pens you actually own. The Suede Pencase is made from real suede and holds 10 to 12 pens behind a zipped top, which makes it the one for a full set of pens, drawing supplies or office kit rather than three favorites. Brown, green or black.

Suede Pencil Case Features

Real suede, not fabric
The case is real suede leather, which is the flesh side of the hide brushed up into a nap. It feels like velvet in the hand and it does not have the plastic-lined rustle of a fabric pencil case. It is a different material from our smooth-leather pieces, not a cheaper version of them.

Zipped, so nothing escapes
The top closes with a zip. Everything inside stays inside, including the small things that get lost first: a spare nib, an eraser, a USB stick. This is what a band-closed case cannot do.

10 to 12 pens
Capacity is 10 to 12 pens, so a set of fineliners, a few highlighters and your daily pen travel together. It stays slim while it does that, because suede gives where a stiff case would not.

Three colors
Brown, green and black. Brown is the warm classic, green is the one nobody else at the table has, black disappears into a bag.

Suede Pencase Material and Care

The nap catches the light differently depending on which way you brush it, which is what makes suede look alive next to smooth leather. That texture is also the thing to protect: suede takes water marks and shine from rubbing more readily than a finished surface does.

An honest limit: there is no name embossing on the suede case and no pen included; both of those belong to the smooth-leather Pencase, which holds 3 pens instead. Suede is also the more demanding surface: it marks with water and it shines where it rubs against a bag seam over the years. That is the cost of the texture, and it is the reason to keep it inside a bag rather than clipped to the outside of one.

How to Pair the Suede Pencase

• With a notebook: the Leather Notebook or the A5 Leather Journal are the writing half of the pair.
• If you want a name on it: the smooth Leather Pencase takes free embossing and comes with a pen, though it holds 3 rather than 12.
• On the desk: next to a Leather Mouse Pad or a Semender A5 Organiser, the suede is the texture that breaks up all the smooth leather.

Suede Care

• Do not use leather balm or oil on suede. It flattens the nap and darkens it permanently
• Brush it with a dry, soft brush to lift the nap back up
• Keep it out of water. If it does get wet, let it dry at room temperature and then brush it
• Ink is the one thing suede does not recover from. Cap your pens
